Sensei Tsukada Course Report
Our annual course with Sensei Tsukada was a great success. This is 10th year that we have presented this course . Sensei Tsukada based the Friday evening session at Kidderminster around very effective (and painful!) open hand strikes and blocks followed by the kata Bassai-dai and bunkai. After the training 15 of us went for a local curry which meant a late finish then an early rise for Saturday’s training. The first session on Saturday at Kidderminster was for juniors (and a few of us adults). This concentrated on Itosu Rohai Shodan and accompanying Bunkai Kumite. The main session continued with Itosu Rohai Shodan and Itosu Rohai Nidan, both with bunkai kumite On the Saturday evening there were 22 of us out for a few drinks and a meal in Worcester. The later start for training on Sunday along with the extra hour in bed with the clocks going back was generally much appreciated! Sunday training was hosted by Slater Williams at his Redditch dojo and concentrated on kata Suparimpei. Thanks to everyone who attended and supported the course, specially those who travelled from Scotland, Wales and Guernsey. Special thanks to Ken, Simon Scott, Steve, and Mitch for ferrying people around over the weekend. And of course a very big thank you to Sensei Tsukada for another very enjoyable and informative course.
